This ought to create some convo.

Ranking the BIG Coaches

Newsbreak seems to have broken itself with linking its content but when you get to the read in Newsbreak option (doesn’t work) there is a small print link to read the original content??

Altman at 4 seems a bit high given recent results. And I guess you still have to list Izzo first though I think it's getting closer to not being automatic.

Found it interesting that May was at #8, Woodson at 13.

McCaffery too high, Pikiell too low, Gard a little too low, Diebler way too low.

Guess we'll see in a few months.

Some fans think coaches should spend 365 days in Assembly Hall focusing just on basketball.

Yeah, but being it was @Purdue7, it's trolling and not very good trolling at that...

If he had a game, he'd have worked Woody skimming NIL money to pay for the houses into it or something like that...

There are new guys we don't know much about, guys like Woody that haven't proven otherwise yet, and guys entering the BIG for the first time (which to me will be a hurdle to clear).  Then you have the guys you know what to expect from (Painter/Izzo/etc).   The only comment I will make is that Fran is too high on this list

Purdue landed Luke Ertel 2026 PG from Mt Vernon HS in Fortville, Indiana

Didn't realize Mt Vernon had a big ten caliber player. I went to a couple of games last year because my great nephew goes to middle school in Mt Vernon. I don't remember them having that caliber of player

He missed part of the season with an injury he sustained during football. I watched him play this summer at Purdue in front of their entire staff. He has some Braden Smith similarities in his game and body frame.

Sounds like he’s more of a combo guard versus a pure PG like Braden would you agree?

Not really. He’s a point guard from what I’ve seen and at his current height he’ll have to be a PG.

Was reading he played more off the ball during AAU.  Wondering if he’ll grow more too.

He might’ve done that in AAU because of the roster he was on but he’s n HS he’s the point guard. His brother was listed at 6’2 and that might be generous so I really don’t think he’ll grow much more.

With the new teams and all the transfers, about 40% of the names on this list are players I’ve never heard of or know very little about. Feels like I’d used to go into seasons knowing just about everybody in the conference who was projected to be one of the top players.

With that many unknowns, it’s hard for me to argue too much with anyone on the list.
