I think it was already said but we have tomorrow off and then play the winner of the OSU/Neb elimination game.

What we do pitching wise from here is interesting...

Rybarczyk, Kraft haven't thrown, but haven't been too reliable..

Bothwell 53

Buhr 64

On Tues for both..  those two could for sure throw that amount Sunday.. but who gets you there?

Here’s to hoping whoever we play is down to their last arms!

Embarrassing day

Disappointing year. Thought if things broke right we might have chance to host. Pitching was way too bad for that. Then against Nebraka just couldn’t get the timely hits in game 1 and wasted a great pitching game. Wonder who we lose? Who we bring in? Sinnard and foley next year? That be filthy.

Sinnard, Foley, Grable, Bothwell, ADP, Buhr, Risedorph was going to be a helluva top 7..

Bohnert, Tonghini mixed in.

3 of those 9 go down. Tibbitts is injured for a month, Mitchell misses two weekends to start the year, Sheppard plays 2 games, and Wiggins gets hurt just as he's winning the DH job...

Then-- Cerny had issues at SS for two games that killed our pitching..

--- Kraft, Whiteaker give us 0 on the mound

Mercer is a 38 year old HC... he just needs to be reflective and continue to grow.

The FR class we have coming in is loaded-- Brayton Thomas, Hogan Denny, Jake Hanley, Grant Hollister, Evan Macintyre, Griffin Tobias--- all Top 250/300 kids.

One other point-- I think after this season, college baseball is going to get a lot younger... meaning the "covid years" will drastically lessen-- we will not be seeing nearly as many 24 year olds in college baseball. Baseball is a year ahead of football and basketball in that regard. Think like Galloway, Leal types but in baseball--- getting to hit off 18 yr olds...

For a program that has the best recruiting in the conference--- that should bode well moving forward.

Nebrakas "Pitcher of the Year"--- Brett Sears is 24 years old-- 2 year JUCO, 2 years at Western ILL, 2 years at NE-- that stuff isn't going to happen anymore.

Mercer has been good in the portal-- Glasser, Sinnard, Buhr, and Mitchell... to fill gaps.

Weather the storm, eat some humble pie, get back in the cages, be reflective and improve.

You follow IU baseball a lot closer than I do and I appreciate this summery post. Who do you think we lose to the draft and who will we keep. My understanding is that DT has to stay due to being a sophomore - is that correct?

Yep. He's back..

Who we lose?-- Foley, Cerny are both draft eligible SOs and some have Foley listed in the first 5 rds.. I spoke with some people down in TX when IU played in Frisco--- at that time it was floated that Foleys parents wanted to see him back at IU after this season..  big difference in money if Foley comes back and works himself into a 1st/2nd rd draft pick, which he absolutely could... compared to going 5th/6th rd this year...

I don't think Cerny would get drafted this year anyways, personally. I would even go as far to say-- him going pro, at this juncture, would be a bad choice for him. Foley I'm 50/50 on....

Now for the JRs--- Sinnard-- for sure could get drafted, it'd probably be later in the draft with way less guaranteed money-- but he could also come back and go T3 rds with a good year...

Tibbitts-- gone. Total stud. We missed him so much when he was out. Elite defensive 1B, can also catch.

Mathison-- gone. Showed he can CF this year too. Struggled average wise at the plate, but I'd be shocked if he's back.

Mitchell- I assume he's gone.  He improved a lot in the field, buuut I don't think I'd be shocked if he were back.

Pyne-- I do think he's back. He's just not "plus" anywhere.  I hope I'm wrong and Josh is drafted this year.

------------

Jake Hanley is a 6'6 225lbs Top 100 recruit that plays 1B.

Brayton Thomas--- LHP-- Top 75 recruit (pray he gets to campus)

Hogan Denny-- Top 150 catcher

Griffin Tobias-- Top 200 RHP

Grant Hollister- Top 200 3B

And a couple others that a highly thought of.

---------

Taylor, Wiggins, Cerny, Oliver, Sheppard, Brenczewski, Hanley (and possibly Pyne), Stadler.. is a helluva way to start a position group...

One hole I see if CF-- Braydon Bakes (highly rated recruit was a RS this past year), Evan Macintyre highly rated recruit from North Carolina... can one of those guys win the job?

I think we'd probably go portaling for a CF.

Love Mercer and the fact that he’s 38! He should  keep us in regional mix and top BIG every year. Hard to beat that for Midwest program.
