Had a feeling it was coming but sad to see him go. I would love if the University could find a way to name something after him on campus. Whether you were born or just a small child during some of his years at IU, RMK is the very reason IU basketball was as big as it was and is still thriving as a blue blood back on the rise today. Like Mike Woodson said at Hoosier Hysteria, “Bob Knight is Indiana Basketball.”
02Hoosier
A tremendous loss to the program, university, and the world of basketball. I never was able to experience IUBB with Knight as coach, but I’m grateful to be able to enjoy the program that he laid the foundation for. My prayers go out to his family, friends, and everyone impacted by his passing. RIP Coach!

Seeking6
Here's what I got gang. Being born to two Hoosiers but raised in Northern Illinois Coach Knight was a God in our house. A tactical genius who took lesser talent and won. It was something ingrained in us as kids in the early 80's. My Dad would always say watch what Coach Knight does in 2nd half. Many mornings I would wake up and Dad would say Coach made some changes and we finished off it with a Win. RIP Coach Knight. You alone have shaped me and many Hoosiers. Smart always wins. Disciplined always wins. We mourn for you and your loved ones but man what a life.

A few stories I had not heard that made me smile.

When I saw the news about Bob Knight the first thought in my mind was to grab my phone and call my Dad to tell him or see if he had heard. Like you and many of us, so many of my Bob Knight thoughts are tied to my Dad. Took me a beat to remember that I couldn't call him. I don't want depress you or anything but losing your dad sucks. I don't think it really matters how young or old you are. I lost mine when I was only 21. I'm 38 now. So I feel for you my friend. Hoosier4Life53
Sad news….one of the greatest coaches ever, a basketball genius and an IU legend. Long overdue, but now’s the time to name the floor after RMK in his honor…come on Dolson, let’s get this done! He raised so much money for the University and community. He did so many things behind the scenes with ZERO fanfare. He did it because he loved IU, and we loved him. I think that was why he was SOOOOO hurt about being fired. True story, I have 2 nephews who attended IU in the 90's, not sure of the years. Anyway they had a grandpa, my father-in-law, that was battling cancer. They went to the athletic office to see if RMK could autograph a basketball for him. Not only did Coach sign the ball, but also told the boys that if their grandpa was physically able to attend a game, he would see to it that he would have seats behind the bench!! Unfortunately, he was not able to make the trip. He will be missed. It would be a nice gesture if the team and CMW could dedicate this season to The General... jefftheref
I was at the casino with my wife. Today was the second time ever she saw me cry! I loved Coach and everything he stood for. It's a damn shame his return was when Miller was the Coach. Thank you Coach Knight for everything you did for Indiana basketball and for me! R.I.P.! Condolences to the Knight family, his friends and his former players.

He was the program, gonna be honest and say it hasn't felt the same since then. We have had some good times (and quite a few not so good) since then, but nothing touches what the program was like during that timeframe and I was on the tail end of it.
