IUFLA
The definition lists two essential criteria for a legal catch: First, the fielder must gain "secure possession in hand or glove of a ball in flight." The fielder must hold the ball long enough to "prove that he has complete control of the ball." Then, second, when he releases the ball it must be "voluntary and intentional." Put more simply, a fielder must demonstrate secure control and voluntary release. Without both of these, you do not have a legal catch." According to the MLB rules, it's not a catch...he did not voluntarily release the ball...

Proud2BAHoosier
I know you guys don't care what the Yankees do, but man, as a fan I sometimes have to scratch my head and say WTF???? For some reason, Aaron Boone is in love with Clay Holmes, you can include Cashman in that love fest as well. Last night against the Texas Rangers, the Yanks had a 4-3 lead going into the bottom of the 9th. Guess who comes in to close the game? It's none other than Mr. "Blow the Game" Holmes!! Man my bung hole was puckering because I knew what was going to happen! What does he do? Loads the bases with only 1 out and throws one right down the middle and Texas wins on a walk-off grand slam HR!!!!! The guy has now a MLB leading, 11 blown saves! He simply is not a closer and I don't want Holmes anywhere near a tight play-off game. The sooner Boone gets it in his head, the better!! IU Scott
After 1 inning the Reds are up 9-0 vs the Astros. The Astros pitcher only gave up 7 runs in August but gave up 9 tonight in 2/3 of an inning.

Naturalhoosier
In California and marked Oakland Coliseum off the list of stadium visits. What an absolute sh-hole this place is. Concrete is cracking all over. Rebar is showing through. Homeless encampments on the pedestrian bridge. No wonder they can’t get families to come to the games. Today we head into San Francisco. I have been to Oracle but it’s prob been 20 yrs. Looking forward to seeing it again as I remember it being a really nice stadium.

Was in San Fran for first time in December last year, so not baseball season. Did drive by Oracle on the way to catch a Warriors game, but it remains high on my list of stadiums I would like to see a game at one day. Oh, by the way, how 'bout that Reds/Astros series so far? IU Scott
Reds rookie pitcher Rhett Lowder started his second game today and pitched 6.1 shutout innings. So in 10.1 innings he has given up 1 run but the Reds hasn't scored a run in either game he has started. It is 0-0 going to the bottom of the 6th. Thank you to the Astros manager for taking out your starter after 6 shutout innings. First batter up in the 7th hit the winning home run for the Reds.
