Do you or anyone else of the brethren how many at bats Bellinger needs to be in the race for NL batting title? Can't remember the last time we had a .330 hitter. Maybe Grace at some point by the 4th?

It's 3.1 plate appearances per team game played.  The Cubs have played 117 games, so he would need to be at 363 plate appearances to qualify.  I'll need to look up to see how many he is at.

I looked it up.  After today's game, Bellinger has 326 at bats, 27 walks, 3 sacrifice flies, and 3 hit-by-pitch.  That's 363 plate appearances.  So, he will be qualified when official stats are updated after tonight's games.

MLB.Com already has the stats updated.  Bellinger is officially 4th in the NL in hitting, behind Arraez, Freeman, and Acuna.  Interestingly enough, after Bellinger's .331 average, there is not another qualified hitter in the NL hitting .300.  Byson Stott is 5th at .299.

There are 5 AL hitters at .300 or above.

Thanks gang. I wasn't sure on the exact rules but thought it had to be close.
