This team has been talented enough and the roster balanced well enough to win every game we've played to this point; the fact that they haven't done it is the problem. The problems in all four of those losses have been largely the same from the team. Very frustrating. Yeah that is another we let get away. If this was last year I would be mad but just kind of chalk it up to "oh well...." because I did not think that team had any amount of "it" in them. This one does. So when they basically beat themselves it is irritating as all get out.

The bench consistently killed the momentum. Yes, but you have to develop them. Its a tug of war. The starters couldn't handle pressure either. Something that has to be considered at some point. Interesting Leal is getting no play.
Artesian_86
As poorly as we played the second half tonight,…..I think we go onto win by 3 if we would have consistently broke their full court/1-2-2 press at the end of the game.

Lizard
Man it was tough to see us make so many stupid passes. We totally peed down our collective legs in the 2nd half. MUST bounce back and win in Lincoln. That will happen, right?
SawatchHoosier
Is it me or could Rob break the single game record for most turnovers and Woodson still wouldn't put Lander in?
Cbp4IU
Xavier Johnson can’t start the 2nd half of a game going forward. He kills the momentum. What’s crazy is though is if Xavier Johnson learned how to play his role as ball handler and distributer he would actually be solid. He doesn’t have to make the big play every time. The problem is he thinks he’s something he’s not and plays way too fast. If he just slowed down a tick it would do wonders.
kyhoosier29
I don’t know why I’m mad when this outcome is a given / what I expect. I don’t expect us to win at Nebraska either. Just too mentally weak all around. I’ll say the same thing I said in the game thread, CMW should run these guys tomorrow until every single one of them pukes. And then dare them to shoot 50% from the FT line and turn it over 23 times again.

We are top 30 in BPI and KenPom, and 31 in NET. We would safely be in right now. Can't speak for anyone else. Missing the tourney isn't the issue. It's pissing away losses when the wins are so easily in our grasp. Cuse, Sconny, Peds, and now Iowa. Frustrating how team by early January can't say let's figure this stuff out. Of course it took Alford's 87 team to figure it out in mid February so what do I know.
jojo123
IU got Bobbied tonight. They let Fran distract the rhythm of the game. He got into their heads and the refs bought in. We didn't quit but our heads exploded.

ba43056
Point guard play, as good as it was last game, it was equally as bad tonight. This is where I normally pitch my argument for Galloway v. Kopp as a starter but I'll defer to the gentlemen being paid to make that decision and assume there's something about Kopps all around game and contribution to the 5 that he's a part of that makes him the more logical choice to START each half and not be a specialist off the bench where he could be plugged in against the other teams second unit which would probably have someone that he could f'n guard. It was a road game...and we're not good enough to win against a mediocre conference team on their floor.....that simple. We have the talent to be, but we're not there yet.

IU Scott
If I were the coach I would go to a 8 man rotation. 4-5 position TJD, Race and Geronimo. Have Geronimo come in for Race and then a few minutes have Race in for TJD. That way you have either Trace or Trace in tbe game. 2-3 position Kopp, Stewart band Galloway. Same thing you would have at least one shooter in at all time. 1 Johnson and RP
IowaHoosierFan
I was there. Wasn't any better watching it live than on TV. I had a good beer and pizza before the game though. So there is that

Fundamentals
The propping up of Rob Phinisee is now becoming lost opportunities for other players getting a chance to play. Rob Phinisee is limited in too many ways to justify minutes. Yes, he is an excellent defender, nothing else. WTF was Race doing in the backcourt of our press break? Terrible strategy. Hurt IU. Jalen Hood-Schifino needs the keys to the car the minute he sets foot on campus. IU’s point guard play will be the bugaboo on the road the remainder of the season. The second half uglies: 14 turnovers, almost all unforced No clue against a soft press PG play=BAD 5-11 from the FT line Kris Murray, who averages 9, going off for 29 Wouldn’t beat Eastern Washington playing that way. Remember that one? IndyKev said it best: tired of watching the same crap year after year.
