Pacers playoff run just got tougher. Pistons just acquired Blake Griffin.

So, will Russ favor PG13 and freeze Vic out at the ASG?

Is it fair to say no one actually leads a team to a title alone no matter how good they are? I can't really think of anytime anyone ever won a title with one elite player and a bunch of average to good players.
I remember a 6th grade girls team a few years back that had a 6'1 girl.

Mom, Dwayne Wade, and Tom Crean talk Vic.

No all star start for Vic. Reserves will be announced in a few days.
Saw a chart where he was 4th in the Fan voting for Eastern Conference backcourt player, but was 3rd in voting by the players and the media for Eastern backcourt.

Basketball Reference has a cool feature where they list cumulative career stats for each draft class. I was just looking at it to see how OG compared to everyone in the 2017 class, and as expected, he rates in the top 15 in almost every meaningful category (Top 10 in most), an indication that he was likely drafted too low.
That led me to think, well what about Yogi. Unfortunately, Yogi was not drafted in 2016, so there's no easy list and sort option to see how where he stands. that said, he does have his personal page on the site, and by comparing his personal stats against those that were drafted, I thought these were particularly interesting.
- He would rank 5th in career win shares at 3.8.
- He would be 7th in career ppg at 10.1
- He would be 5th in Value over Replacement at .9
- If you throw out a couple of guys that have played less than 15 games, he would rank 4th in Box Plus/Minus at -.5
- 9th in minutes played with 2457 (which makes his top 5 in win shares even more impressive)

The young man has done himself proud.

OG played 35 minutes tonight.....and did not have a single field goal attempt.

Vic ruled out for Friday night's game as well. Pacers in a world of hurt if he is out for an extended period of time.

Vic is averaging 29.7 over his last 9 games. Hard to fathom the quantum leap he took this year after being in Westbrook's shadow last year.
On a side note, I find it interesting every time I watch him play is that he often doesn't look like fully engaged at points (I'm talking his body language and remaining in an athletic stance), but then he's able to be in the right spot at the right time on both ends because he so quick and explosive. Not sure I've seen a player do this quite like him and get away with it. Anybody else notice this?
I think he goes out of his way to defer to his teammates at times on the offensive end. Important approach for team success.

OG with 20 tonight, including 6-7 from 3 point range.

21 fouls on Pacers, Only 12 on Thunder. the NBA and ESPN got what they wanted from the refs, ensuring the 'marquee' team came away with a win.

Doyel offering his opinion of the OKC / Indy matchup this Wednesday. And, trust me when I say, he does not hold back.

An excellent article on Vic's emergence.

Interesting list from The Ringer. The ranked the top 25 players of the first 25ish games of the NBA season. VO and PG both made the list, but interesting regarding where they're ranked and who's ranked higher...

They may want to re-rank after Vic's game tonight.

Vic signs his shoes and gives them to a couple of kids after his post-game interview.

-
Yogi with 8 point, 7 boards, +15 in a team high 34 minutes against the Celtics tonight.
-
In the post-game interview, you could just feel how comfortable Vic is in Indiana. He even made a comment to the effect that "I'm going to be here a long time".
-
Cody with a knee injury in tonight's game. Calling it a strain at this point.

Been meaning to post in this thread about Zeller. Granted, I haven't seen a Hornets game this year, but seems odd to me that last season all the talk was about how efficient Zeller was and how Charlotte was a upper team in the East when he played and awful when he didn't. Then Charlotte goes and gets Dwight Howard who take minutes from Zeller, and while I think they mostly play Kaminsky at the 4, he's also taking some minutes from Zeller, and of course Charlotte is awful.
In Howard's defense his numbers are good (15 & 12 with a 17 PER), but I'd guess he has changed the dynamic of that team to where it's changed the way they play. I recall last year Zeller being great in the pick and roll with Kemba and really good defensively as well.
While Zeller certainly doesn't jump off the screen or stat sheet, the analytics loved him last year, but seems he's fallen out of favor a bit in Charlotte.
Cody needs to be traded. Too many more years in Charlotte, and his career will end up being a waste.

Snarky is bad. Snippety is much better. Or, even better yet, crotchety.

Not sure if you are questioning the validity of the trade, or my assumption that it makes the Pacers playoff run tougher. The Pacers are currently 7th in the east and the Pistons 9th. This trade may help pull the Pistons back towards that 8th spot.
