  1. This is part Pet Peeve, part just pisses me off.   Was at the grocery last night.  Walking from the parking lot to the front door.  A car pulls into the handicap space closest to the front door.  there is a handicap tag hanging from the rear view mirror.  However, does a handicap person step out of the car?  No, 4 perfectly healthy teenage girls pile out.  Now, I have no reason to believe that the handicap tag was not needed for that car. It's very likely someone that regularly drives the car needs it.  However, the group that used the tag last night to secure a front parking space did not have have anyone that required it/  Just because you have the tag does not mean you get to use it if it's not needed.

I've regretted all day not saying something to the girls.

As for my pet peeve; it seems to be a central Indiana quirk to drop the infinitive that comes before a past tense verb.  An example would be "that pie needs baked" or "my car needs repaired."

It honestly drives me NUTS because SO MANY people speak this way here.

    What kind of pie?  :coffee:

  3. People that don't seem to know where the trash can is, or how to find one.  Yes, I'm talking about my teenage children and the trash they leave around the house, but I'm,also talking about people that leave drink cups on shelves at the store, candy wrappers that are left to blow down the street, and things like empty motor oil bottles left in parking lots.

People who back into parking spaces. If I ever run for president, my entire platform will be centered on making it a felony to back into parking spaces. I realize there could potentially be a benefit to it, but I'm sorry to the 5% that can successfully do it, but the other 95% that try to and can't are ruining it for you. No more!!!!

OMG.  I thought I was the only one bothered by this.  I put a hex on everone that does.  Also refuse to park next to someone that does this.  Driver door next to driver door bothers me to an unhealthy level.

  5. Share them with your HSN brethren   But. don't unload them all at once.  Let them out in a trickle to give those that have been shared some time to simmer.

I'm going to start in the grocery store,  Nothing gets to me more than when the person buying $175 worth of groceries does one of the following:

    • Realizes they forgot an item and send the spouse, kid, bag boy, or themselves on a trek to locate the item before they pay.  Pay the bill for what you have now and go back through line you cretin!!!!
    • A few seconds after the cashier is done ringing up items, it dawns on the customer that, yes, they do have to pay, and then, and only then, do they start digging through their purse for money or a debit/credit card (I say purse because my experience is men do not do this).  Ma'am, can you please tell me how many times you have been to the grocery and NOT had to pay?  Can you see the benefit of advance preparation.  It takes a while for that cashier to ring up $175 worth of stuff.  Would it be so hard to begin planning your method of payment while that is going on?

Ok, I like Pagenaud a little more today.  First to ever have his dog in the official winner's photo.

You could tell when he won how much winning met to him.  That kind of emotion is what I like to see from an Indy winner..

This is an interesting read. The Lakers are a complete mess, as we knew. But Magic as a bully in the organization on top of being a terrible front-office decision-maker, eye opening. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/26821790/lakers-20-failed-reboot-nba-crown-jewel

Maybe everyone should stop calling him 'Magic'.

Question about that name.  Did he bring io college with him, or did he pick it up after getting to MSU.

You’re right, I’m soft. Sometimes I start crying just thinking about how tough the guys were in the 70’s and 80’s. Oh they’re so scary.

Lol dude, I played hockey, that stuff is weak, don’t tell me about soft.

But dirty is dirty, and golly that dirty play caused Kawhi to miss a year. A year. Soft had nothing to do with this.

    Man that’s harsh.

I don’t know the particulars of this drug offense / rule violation but that’s basically a career ender at his age.

4th overall pick, rookie of the year, a 10-year career. That just sucks. Does it really merit a 2-year ban?

Yeah.  It does.  So much focus on the impacts of the one who committed the violation, and no recognition given to the fact that a ban like that is, in fact, a deterrent.  And, let's not kid ourselves, this is not a marijuana violation.  Now, next time a young player gets offered drugs at a party, it's not unrealistic to think that one of the things that pops into his head is 'Man, I don't want to end up like Tyreke Evans.'

The ban is a good thing.  It's not all about Tyreke.  It's about keeping control of this type of thing in the league.  And, to do that, the penalty has to be severe.   Otherwise, you take youth and money, and combine that with the influences from the neighborhoods that many of these players grew up with, and the league would have a recipe for disaster if the policy was not strict.
