The rough is really challenging...5 inches and no cutting scheduled.  Got to hit fairways.  Thomas' 5 under 65 looks impressive.  Course should only get more firm, more dry, more difficult, so scoring low today is important.

I can honestly say that I have never carded a single bogey at Winged Foot.

Oh yeah, you really didn't hear about them in the 70's.  Racking my brain...Casper?

Bob Trumpy of the Bengals was considered a pass catching tight-end in the 70's.  He caught more than 40 passes TWICE in his career.

Casper had 40 or more catches five times, with a peak of 62.

So going back to the statement that piqued my interest, I think you're onto something with the first part of this statement, but miss the mark with the second and third quotes...

You're right in the fact that teams rarely, if ever, keep backs or tight ends in to block, so the O line is it for protection...

Now, I know 2 things,,,1} that sacks don't tell the whole story, and 2} lies, damn lies, and statistics...BUT...

I went to https://www.pro-football-reference.com/ and looked at the decade of the 80s for sack statistics...

In 1980, defenses averaged 36.8 sacks per team

    81 36.5

    82 (strike year) 24.9

    83 43.3

    84 46.9

    85 46.6

    86 42.8

    87 39.8

    88 37.0

    89 39.5

Since 2010, only twice (2013 and 2018) has the average been right at 40 per team. The rest of the time it hovered in the mid 30s.

And while I only mentioned the 85 Bears and LT, Reggie White, Chris Doleman, Derrick Thomas, and Mark Gastineau played during the 80s. They were World Class back then, too.  I'd put that group against any in the current league...And back in the 80s, as rico pointed out, they were geared to stop the run...and they could still knock your junk in your watch pocket...

There may be analytics that can shed more light on it...pressure, QB hits, etc...

And don't even get me started on the greatness of Deacon Jones... ;)

Quarterbacks were less likely to throw it away back then.  I stand by my point that QBs have less time to throw downfield in today's game.

    In defense of streaming music...

I'm like everybody else on here...I have favorite albums and favorite artists...but I like hearing a wider variety of music, and to be honest, my favorite genre, "Classic Rock" was getting a little stale...

So I had started going through The Rolling Stones 500 greatest albums to see what I'd missed. My streaming service (Google Play Music...$15 a month for 6 people) allows me to do this. Additionally, @tdhoosierhas been kind enough to introduce me to some music and artists that I'd never heard of before, and I like quite a bit of it. He suggests, and I can immediately listen...

I can choose a particular artist, album, or a radio station based on a certain artist or genre commercial free and the fact I can skip something I don't care for makes it an obvious choice for me over Sirius/XM.

I understand some feel more comfortable with physical media, and that's fine...but just not for me at this point in my life...

Fair enough, but if we ever have a 'Dating' thread, I hope you don't post something similar on it.  :coffee:

Anyone here still spin vinyl? I started rebuilding my collection about 15 years ago - after a cousin sold all my albums when I was in boot camp. 😠

We have a player that spins vinyl.  But, it virtually never gets used.  My CD collection is about 30X larger and much more diverse than my vinyl collection.  Reality is I rarely listen to CDs any more either.  Have satellite radio in both cars and playing music at home requires headphones so as to not disturb others.  On those rare occasions where I'm home alone and in the mood, I'll crank something up.

  6. Before someone claims foul at the source, I want to point out that I've linked more articles from CNN about Corona than I have from Fox News.

The gist of the story is that a Chinese virologist claims that the Chinese government intentionally released the virus.

Everyone is free to form their own opinion.  But, in the spirit of fairness, let's not try to censor this angle of the story.

With all the respect in the world to our resident PG fan club President.....that again is why he's Playoff Paul.

To be fair, in looking at the box, PG led the Clippers in 3 key statistical categories last night.

     - 3 point shots missed

    - Turnovers

    - Fouls

Why? Because they lost on the road to one of the best teams in the league in their first live football action with a bunch of new pieces?

    Yes.  Exactly.

And, as a Brady hater, I reserve the right to celebrate each of his, and the team's failures, much in the same way I do for Purdue and Kentucky.

Wow what a comeback for the Bears. In shock actually. Needed that one. Regarding Colts. It's week 1 but that's just unacceptable. I cheer for the Colts like crazy too. That one can't happen.

Jonathan Taylor, who I had on the bench,  had an average game, but still, by himself, outscored by 2 starting RBs combined.
