I'm optimistic that Indiana is finally making some progress. Hospitalizations reported today are at their lowest level since 11/9.

Didn't want to start a new thread on this. But, at this point in the season, these are TJD's national rankings in some stats.
1st - 2 point FG attempts
2nd - 2 point FGs made (to Garza)
2nd in FTs made (to Marcus Carr)
2nd in FTs attempted (Jalen Moore of Oakland)
9th in Minutes played
6th in defensive rebounds
8th in total rebounds
4th in total points
8th in Defensive Win Shares
7th in Total Win Shares
I know some think he doesn't get enough touches, but these numbers indicate otherwise.

Vaccine distribution may be changing by the end of the month, The current approach is to hold back some distribution to ensure there are enough 2nd doses to give to those that received a first dose. The possible change in approach will be to release almost all available does now to hopefully increase the number of first doses and then allow/expect manufacturing to keep up with the demand of second doses.
I understand the rationale of both approaches. But, I am getting Covid weary and will ultimately be behind whichever approach helps us get where we need/want tp be.
If anyone wants to discuss, please stay on the pros and cons of each approach and leave any politics out of the discussion

A Florida doctor has died several weeks after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, although it's not yet clear whether his death Monday was related to the shot he received on Dec. 18.
Talk about bad headlines...
Agreed. The vaccine may have nothing to do with his death. Just, like the 98 year old people in an nursing home that die 2 months after getting the vaccine. It's highly likely that it was not the vaccine that killed them. And, quite honestly, unless there was some direct correlation proven, this story should never have been written until more facts were received.
Again, the media is stirring the pot. Someone will see that headline, read not further, and choose not to get the vaccine.

Anybody here get the vaccine yet? I just got a call that said employees at our school can get the vaccine tomorrow. Not sure which vaccine it is.
Good news. I have an appointment with my primary scheduled for another reason in late January. Hoping to at least find out then when I can get it.

Something I'm curious about. Since many states seem to be reporting people who have traces of the virus in their system as Covid related deaths, how is that going to work once the vaccine has been administered? Doesn't the vaccine include traces of the virus?
I ask because so much attention is being given towards long term care patients getting the vaccine. I've seen multiple news stories about this 100 year old or this 98 year old getting the vaccine. There is a pretty fair chance they will be dying within the next couple of years anyway. I'm not against them getting the vaccine, but I would hope that, if they do pass away in the next 2-3 months, it's not counted as a Covid death just because there is evidence of the virus or anti-bodies in their system.
If they are counted, our numbers aren't going to show much improvement because among the first group getting the vaccine, there is a higher than normal probability of death anyway.

Whatever we feel about the virus, we can't ignore the fact that it kills people. And, in some cases it can take huge chunks of a family all at once. This is s story from Southern Indiana where a pastor, his sister, and his mother all succumbed to the virus this holiday season. I've seen many of these types of stories over the months, and they are always tragic. This one caught my eye more than usual because I'm pretty sure I drive by this church every time I head up to Bloomington for a ball game. I didn't know the family at all, but the church is somewhat of a marker for me when driving to and from a game.
The flu doesn't often take multiple family members at once. Neither does cancer, heart disease, dementia, etc. This virus does that far too often. That's what makes it different, and is one of the main reasons we should respect it despite the enormous amount of misinformation and politicalization of it.

Not to be that guy who interrupts a good discussion, but about 10 days ago, my grandson caught a nasty cold. A few days later, I started to feel like crap as well. Neither of us had a fever, just the usual symptoms of a bad cold. Last Thursday, my wife started to feel sick, and by Sunday she had a 101 degree fever. She was supposed to return to work this morning but was still running a fever so she went to the Dr. instead. They gave her a covid test and it was negative. We were relieved about the result, but she's not real happy that she probably lost her Holiday pay by being absent.
Glad to hear her test was negative. Hope she feels better soon.

I searched for FL misrepresenting covid deaths. First 50 results under news didn't show anything about misrepresenting in the headlines.
Your browsing history probably influences what is returned to you. If I search the same topic, I do get some returns where the numbers are being questioned. Most of them were from April, early May, but there were some from December as well.
That said, I firmly believe the media is questioning the numbers because of who the Governor is. As I pointed out earlier, Florida's death rate is significantly higher than California's, but significantly lower than Illinois (I intentionally did not use New York because we have to accept the fact that when they got hit hard, we did not have the info we do now).
So, in the media's eyes
- California's leadership did a great job keeping deaths low
- Florida has artificially kept theirs low.
- Illinois, well they tried just as hard as California, but it just didn't work,
I could look at that information and say that, if Illinois is being honest, then Florida is apparently cheating, but California must REALLY be cheating.
