Stewart is a better 3 point shooter, and that's what a lot of you say we need, right?

And he is at the very least Al's equal on the defensive end...Metrics bear that out...

Al's FTs have gone up this year because he's getting calls he wasn't getting in the Big 10...There's no other explanation...He's only shooting 40%n from 2 and 20% from 3...Stewart certainly isn't much better from 2, but from 3, it's not even a contest...And once again, that's what people have been saying we need...

And we have no idea if Al had been here whether it'd be The Windy City 6 or not...

For those of you that think for some reason I'm hating on Al, I'm not...I said 3 years ago that if he was a starting guard for IU, we'd never sniff a Big 10 title, simply because of his physical limitations. Not hating, just the way I see it...

I appreciate the years Al did spend here, and thank him for them...But to say we'd be appreciably better with him is not an opinion I share...

Well, Providence seems to be perfectly happy with our requirement that a player must be perfect to wear candy stripes.

There’s a reason CMW didn’t fight to keep Al.

If this is true, then maybe, just maybe, Coach Woodson miscalculated.  Say whatever you want about Al, but the below are facts:

    • The team he went to was 13-13 last year and is 24-3 this year.
    • He hasn't gotten his ass suspended for 1.5 games this season
    • His PER is 13.1.  Parker Stewart's is 8.8.  Al's PER, while not strong, would be 5th best on IU behind Trayce, Race, XJ, and Geronimo (I'm not counting Duncomb).

Those are the facts.  My opinion is that we would be a better team with Al.  At the very least, he doesn't get suspended at Northwestern, we likely win that game, and we aren't sitting here worried about being on the bubble.

What is he supposed to do with his elbows when he turns to face the basket? They’re naturally going to make contact with the defender and it looks worse because he’s so much taller than most of the guys who guard him. What’s the alternative?

He should quit basketball and become a gymnast.  :coffee:

WOW!! Just watched former Hoosier, Al Durham, and Providence just win the Big East. That has to be an incredible feeling for him to be a part of a championship team while his former teammates can only dream of what it would be like.

    Oh Well.....  🙄

I've watched quite a bit of Providence this year.  Al really has not had a great year statistically, but he plays 35 minutes a game.  He seems much more relaxed and that whole group just plays so well as a team.  Ed Cooley is an excellent coach.

Still wonder why big men in the college basketball haven't learned good post moves.  All we see is them backing their man down with the dribble until they get to the basket.  What happened to guys catching it and making a quick decision and have that turn around jumper over either shoulder.  I see very little up and under moved or how about a pump fake to get the defender off of their feet.

Here's a scouting video of a big man playing the time of game you reference.  Not sure where he plays high school ball, but maybe IU should look at him.

People only look at the 27 TD's and 7 int and think Wentz had a good year. If people watched the season as a whole he was not really productive.  He missed a lot of open WR and never looked yo the check down to make the easy play.  I guess Curt Warner did a recap on Wentz and it was not to flattering.

Russell Wilson is 34 years old and played his entire career in the same system.  Colts would be crazy to give up 2 first round picks plus others to get him.

For a comparison, in 14,530 at bats Joe DiMaggio (369) and Ted Williams (709) struck out less than half as many times combined  in their careers as Jackson (9,864 ABs) did...

In 1941, the year of the 56 game hit streak and the .400 average, Dimaggio struck out 13 times, and Williams 27.  That 13 number is almost unbelievable when compared to the game today.  That's literally an average week for some of these guys.

  8. We do not get in with 13 losses unless we make a run to the semis of the BTT.  And, even in that scenario, you are at the mercy of conference tournament upsets.  In order to avoid 13 losses, we have to win 2 of our last 3 regular season games.  The regular season loss is #11 and the BTT loss is #12.

12 loss at-large teams happen every year.  13 loss at-large teams do not.

We all know this team goes the way XJ Johnson goes! Rob P has a great game we beat Purdue , Johnson plays well we win! My hope is that Bates, and Galloway can raise their games to higher levels!
I keep waiting for Stewart to go off and hit 5 or 6 threes! He doesn’t seem to have the ability to get his shots! Kopp hasn’t been the three point shooter I was hoping for! He doesn’t get many attempts either!

I have little daughters.  If my wife isn’t home and I have to do the ponytails, the results are comic relief.

We can't be accused of being too narrowly focused.  I present to you three consecutive posts in a post-game thread after a big win.

    Okay, that's just weird.

Do you realize Christie Brinkley is now 68 years old?  Don't know if she's a grandma yet, but there is no way it's earthly possible that she's 68 years old.

    That's depressing as hell.

Obviously the losing skid was bad and we aren't necessarily out of the woods, but hard to not feel like the WC5 incident and the Phinisee injury don't combine to be the difference in where we are and being 20-7/11-6.

Man, I hope the WC5 game doesn't end up being the difference between getting in and not.
