NIL won out it appears. Sounds like Miami to the tune of about half a mil.
Can't blame the kid. Get that bread if you can. Plus Larranaga is a solid coach and you get to hang out in south Florida for the next year or two.

I was at that game as well. I was the guy in the IU t-shirt.
And, yes, I second the fact that concessions were a nightmare. Memorial Stadium was totally unprepared for that size of a crowd. I got my popcorn and drink an hour before the game, but it was so dang hot, by halftime I wanted/needed another (water). I when down a couple of minutes before the half. Looked to be a good 20-30 minute wait. I checked back several other times before the end of the game and the line just kept growing through the entire second half.
I would guess that some people missed the entire second half in line.
Ya'll are preparing an invasion into Nippert this fall, right?

Guys like Durr, DDavis, Jerkin and a cast of thousands in the 6'10 to 7'0 range have come and gone over the years and they all had something in common - they were slow, not athletic, or more project than player.
I'm going to throw an asterisk up there on De'Ron Davis. That knee injury his sophomore year really robbed him of a lot of his athleticism, and he stayed banged up for most of the rest of his career. The 15 games he played as a sophomore showed promise: 16 points vs Duke (matched against Bagley and/or Wendell Carter), 16 vs Louisville, 13 vs Iowa. He had a few clunkers, but the potential was there.

A buddy of mine had his first three days before us in the same hospital. They were going home the day we delivered. They adopted their 1 month old nephew 2 months after birth. Evidently as soon as the Dr gave them the ok to practice again, she got pregnant immediately with twins. The kids are 3.5 and 2.5 now. Cutest kids I've ever seen. Its been pure survival. I've barely seen him since the hospital.
I’d probably look like I’d been in a gulag for 2.5 years. 🤣

Maybe he is at the dirt track there looking to buy a sprint car. He isn't a threat to win anything in college basketball anymore so he might be looking to change his profession.
No way…way too hard on the old Gucci loafers.

Absolutely agree will be a solid class: Cupps, Newton, one of the 2 California kids(Stojakovic or Dunlap) both great shooters, and a big(Arrinten Page or someone from the portal).
I want Peja’s son in an IU uniform. If he’s anything like his old man….
Peja was always one of my favorite players to watch. Could shoot, play solid D, handled the ball well, and was a scrapper if need be.

The state hasn't panned out for us that much recently. Yes, a guy like TJD has but for each of him there is a Damezi Anderson type. It goes back to Crean.
To be fair, Damezi was a borderline Top 100 recruit. TJD was a Top 25 recruit. I don’t expect every single Top 100 recruit to pan out, but the odds and expectations get higher as you get closer to the top.

But, I now think his age was actually the perfect timing for him to come to IU. In his mid-to-late 40's/50's he comes off as kind of boring, but in his 60's he comes off as the wise, semi-cool, semi-funny old guy. The sort of guy that younger players look to as a guide. I think the timing is actually perfect.
He’s also had a chance to expand that contact list of big NBA names that respect the hell out of him, and that list wasn’t short to begin with.
I think that’s probably his biggest selling point to recruits: “Wanna get to the League? I know the League, and they know me.”

$300 per month!? lmao
Can’t say for sure about that particular league, but sometimes housing and a stipend for food are included. If you didn’t have to worry about housing and the majority of your meals, you could scratch by.

You don’t want to go on and on about mutual funds? Lol. We are about to move our kids savings into the state sponsored 529 account, and then setting them up with some mutual funds (hopefully) on top of that.
Unfortunately we got a late start to saving, with it mainly being my fault. My dad was a spender and I was never taught how to save, let alone the importance of it. We are working our way out of some debt while also upping our savings/retirements as well.Investing to me is fun regarding stocks, like I mentioned earlier. I try to diversify my stock portfolio, with some in pharmaceutical, green energy, and various others.
I also play in a lot of small/mid cap bios, and I say it’s proof that I must be a masochist deep down. 🤣
That sector has been brutal the last 12-14 months. It’s all been luck and timing.

It’s crazy how fast they grow up. I mad the really bad mistake when my wife was pregnant with our first that as long as he doesn’t come out black then I’m good
With my first, I said two things: 1) that they’re healthy and 2) THAT THERES ONLY ONE.
I can’t imagine what going from zero to twins would be like.

That’s actually a testament to you….very sound logic for a 17 year old.
Edit: and kudos to you for surviving that marathon of estrogen. Always heard that 14 was the turning point. Girls tended to be easier to that point, while boys you genuinely worried about their survival. After that, the fun had only just started with girls, while with boys that age, well….75% of parenting consisted of “Keep it on the road, keep it under 80, be back by midnight and don’t get her pregnant.” 🤣

Yeah, both have their pros and cons. I look at my stock portfolio as a side savings account to gamble with. I typically sell out of stuff once they start doing bad, but will stay in if I believe in their long term success. It’s my form of gambling to keep me away from the casinos lol. In no way do I have a gambling addiction, but prefer to stay away to lose money.
Yep, that's what mine is as well. A fun, occasionally profitable diversion. My "real" savings/retirement are in typical mutual funds....but those are boring by comparison...lol.

Doesn't seem that long ago when mine were that little. Now my 10 year old is all but getting recruited by junior high football teams....yeah, 10 and he's just a shade under 5', 100-110 lbs and built like a brick s***house. For reference, I'm 5'9". Good thing he's basically otherwise a clone of me appearance wise or I'd start wondering if he was mine. 🤣
Kid would be a natural offensive tackle. Not fast, but steady on his feet and has a natural protective instinct vs being an aggressor. But I'm not the parent you'd need to convince.....I'll just leave it at that.

Holiday Decorating/Celebrating
in Colonial Crester's Corner
Posted
There’s actually multiple people in my subdivision that do more-than-decent fireworks.
Roughly an hour of that on all sides.
Edit: my house does sit on the crest of a hill, and I’m standing on my deck filming. Probably one of the better views in the neighborhood.
As far as holiday decorations, I’m about average exterior wise but my (soon to be ex) wife has 8 full size Christmas trees, Along with the required ornaments, etc.
