  1. Didn’t get any pics, but cranked out 7 pies during my FF watch party. That double risen 00 dough gets incredible reviews.

Word of advice for toppings: if you live anywhere near an Aldi, they sell bags of what they call spicy bite size dry salami. It’s basically thick cut pepperoni and is incredible on pizza. I don’t really like pepperoni and I could put away a whole pizza with that on it.

As Maedhros posted, 4.8 in NJ. My daughter lives in Midtown Manhattan and I can confirm she definitely felt it! Said her entire building was shaking violently. Thankfully she was working from home today so didn’t have to deal with subway or trying to get home. Her office building, in the finance district, was evacuated. I told her to watch out for any water issues and stuff because the infrastructure of a lot of NYC is awful, and it wouldn’t surprise me if a couple old pipes shifted. Otherwise she’s good! Just glad she wasn’t on a subway when it happened!!

    A) Glad she’s alright

    B) I hope she’s able to defend her home against all the giant mutant rats that were awoken and released.

Have to ask how you became a Blues fan haha.

Grew up in southern IL. Baseball-wise, everyone was either a Cubs fan or a Cards fan. Decided I’d pick a team that would annoy them both and wound up picking a team that offers nothing but perpetual misery.

Hockey-wise, my dad was originally from Chicago and was a Hawks fan. Apply previous logic.

You can't tell that to Cardinal fans... They think a Clydesdale shitting on a baseball field is big time stuff...

Marge’s dogs were almost that big.

Too bad one of them didn’t nip her in the jugular about 10 years before the old bat finally bit the big one.

    Penny's Son transferring

A kid with 3 years of eligibility left transferring OUT of his dad’s program? 🤔

It’s Memphis, so the answer is “probably”, but is that a sign that fit is about to hit the shan in Memphis?

    No kidding...

I was coaching a little league team in Franklin (8-9 year olds) and they had a parade that went down through Edinburgh... Me and the team were riding on a big flatbed truck and one of the kids yelled to a  30 something guy, "Hi mister!"

The guy gave him the finger...

If it was an Edinburgh kid, he’d have launched a big stream of Skoal juice back at him. :coffee:

I know I’m biased but STL has the best opening day tradition in baseball IMO. Always such a spectacle.

Drive 4 hours east. Opening day in Cincinnati isn’t a spectacle, it’s an all day event and is basically a holiday.

Welcome back ! No suggestions, but I did hire someone from Bloomington to come look at my boiler a couple months ago.. $117/ hr labor... And he diagnosed, kinda, didn't fixt SH$T.  4 year degree... muahahahaha yea right.

There’s something inherently ironic about someone from B-town working on a boiler.

I used to live in the town where those nutjobs built the ark replica. Kind of a neat idea, but I refused to even drive past it because the group that built and runs it actively promotes as fact the idea that dinosaurs and humans co-existed.

I actually had quotes for a billboard across the road from it that would have said “The Flintstones is not a documentary.” 🙄

I think the first priority should always be winning the conference. If you win the conference you will get a high seed and that makes your path to the final four easier

First priority is win the game you’re either playing or the next one on the schedule, regardless if it’s “conference” or not.

For instance, I’m not going to lose sleep if we have a 29-3 regular season record with a 17-3 conference record, but where we happened to lose twice to the same team, who also had a 17-3 conference record but was 25-7 overall. We’d likely still end up with a better tournament seed.

  11. I don't compare to any era in the past, just against my own expectations, which kind of mirrors the definition of modern "success":

    1. Outside of major unplanned events, making the tournament every year.  If it's just mediocre performance, a pass is issued every 12-15 seasons.

    2. In a down year, at minimum a competitive first round game.  Below average: first round win, competitive 2nd round.  Average: Sweet 16 or major 2nd round upset.  Above average: Elite 8, major Sweet 16 upset.  Great: Final Four, or major Elite 8 upset.

    3. Maybe this is heresy, but conference championships really don't matter matter to me. It's all about the tournament.  If you're good, you'll win conference titles along the way. But....conference championship + early tournament exit = disappointment. No conference title + the same run....feels more successful.

Although I would like to win one of those m******f****** B10 tournaments, just to say we have.

  12. Another vote for semolina. Makes great homemade pasta as well.  I've also heard you can use course ground corn meal.

If it's the first time you've used the oven or if you just cleaned your stone, doesn't hurt to toss a tiny bit on the stone before your first pie.

The dough itself, I use 00.  After they've proofed for a 2nd time, I coat the outside in AP flour before rolling, then the semolina on the peel.  Pizza dough can get a bit involved, but sweet baby Jesus is it good.

Edit: I've got a batch in the fridge for tomorrow night.  Hosting a neighborhood FF watch party.

Worth posting as a heads up.  I don’t see Teri leaving IU but I am sure Tenn makes a call.  Lawson I believe played at Tenn so may be the inside track but you never know.

I don't see her leaving IU for just anywhere, but you've got to admit.....Tennessee is a "crown jewel" job in women's basketball.

Yes, that's an empty square.  On Yankees All Star, my brain originally thought Bill Dickey (correctly), but my fingers typed in Bill Terry. And, I'm offended that the grid gave @Zlinedavid a better score for Dan Wilson than it did me.

Must have been me selecting him that bumped it up.
