I like Race. I can’t remember pulling for another player any more than I’ve pulled for Race. He is hard nosed, tries really hard most of the time. I think his game has aged and improved well through reps and familiarity. Race can destroy the paint all he wants but no way do I see him in any way as a floor stretching shooter.

I think once Bates finds his comfort zone and place in the offense we will see more of his game. Being able to create off the dribble is what this team needs and I think he can bring it. Time will tell. As for Race Thompson is now a 3pt threat that can stretch the floor as IU faces the NIT without any consistent shooters? Smh. Yeah ok. This is like the Justin Smith is a 3 conversation. It would be nice if Race could stretch the floor but at this point in his career lol I think it’s clearly not his game.

I’m not a Dakich fan or anything. I just feel like he is currently saying things that are correct. Even if you don’t like someone doesn’t mean they are never correct. No matter how anyone feels, sunshine pump or otherwise, there aren’t any quick answers or fixes to this mess other than extremely talented players coming in. See Yogi, Oladipo etc in the Crean era. Anyone could be a top flight coach with that talent.

RMK hunted my grandfathers property frequently. Rumor then was the heat he was getting from the IU admin and all the zero nonsense policy stuff was some of the reasoning behind the disconnect. Basically they pissed him off. To me that’s too long ago for me to remember any direct details if there even was any. I do know from RMK living across the street from my grandparents and hunting grandpas farm in Springville, that they shared lots of stories. Which we as kids would hear second hand.

Your listed timeline sounds about right. I’m not sure of your point though. If you speaking of the overall downhill slide of the program then yes I agree that it’s all on the administration from the beginning. I think that’s what you are saying? The time to repair or build has been beaten to it’s death. I’m not of the Woodson can’t get it done eventually camp. However, I am of the IU stomped on their own foot by not hiring Pitino when he came calling as Mike Davis was interim. The narrative of no one of any significance wants to come to IU is complete hogwash. This situation is interesting in a way because of Woodsons NBA experience and how he translates that experience and knowledge to the college game and amateur players. Back to Dakich, he’s very raw and over the top in his assessment but I get it. I feel for the players as young people but he’s right in the way that there are players/people that go through the motions and then there are people that have the champion pedigree and work their tail off. That’s what I take from his rant.

To be honest I’ve never gave this guy a second of thought. Lately though, and now having an IU guy on the bench I’ve wondered how he currently felt about the programs direction. I have to say, he’s not wrong in some of his latest shows. I can’t help but laugh and for the most part agree with his assessment. If your prone to hurt feelings then either loosen your belt and relax or don’t click the link. To me he’s just being real and not sugar coating but I realize to some he might come off as an absurd lunatic.

I agree and way is to remove the stand around guys. You could drive a pin next to Stewart and Kopp at times all season long. I would use them like a Roth type bench shooter. Insert slashing shot creator like Bates. I’ve said before I think he just needs reps to find his comfort and flow zone within the offense. Get Geronimo in for some mid range offense. Kid has shown great mid range potential. Their zone was obviously to collapse on the paint and force the perimeter shot. If you can’t hit then you better be able to penetrate and dish or draw a foul. Last night, I thought XJ didn’t do enough of that. It’s all debatable. I’m not the type to pass out cookies and create a fantasy land. Pass blame on who you want to but the facts are not debatable. IU is currently on coach number 5 since they fired a legend and has shelled out a lot of money to suck the dirt off the bottom of the B1G. Next season recruits look promising. I’m really hopeful and think the next 2 classes will make a difference.
