Basketball is a fun & simple game. All of us here are sports nuts. We may not be the coach but that doesn’t mean we can’t have an opinion. Right now, IU men’s team stinks. From this board to the next, to twitter to ESPN, to BTN to other teams fan boards. The entire sports landscape can see it. Blame it on the rain if you want to. Complaining here isn’t causing it. It’s what fans do on a message board when their team stinks. No different than the praise the team will get when they win. Have a good day ladies and gentlemen. It’s Friday!

Absolutely. These ladies aren’t drama queens. They play hard and practice hard. If you’ve ever listened to Teri Moren talk to them, she is a great coach. Some of the things she says is like a snippet off an RMK quote. She gets it. The whole team plays with pride and full of heart.

There has been some incredibly good talent come through since the coaching carousel started that I always felt was wasted. My rant though: This marriage has to work. It’s hard to establish a culture with a rotating door of leadership. That said, I can’t see that there is any improvement in anything at this point with the exception of a couple promising freshmen. One of whom could possibly leave for the NBA. The other who seems to be taken out of the flow completely and may say heck with this I’m outa here. I wasn’t a fan of the hire to begin with. I felt it was a nostalgic hire that would fail. I mean, Woodson is a very likable guy and all but…meh. The Matta addition was huge for me. It was like a safety net. Matta knows how to win college basketball games. He’s shown that. It felt like a smart move that could result in a backup plan if needed. There wouldn’t be the need for another search if Woodson didn’t pan out. It could be a smooth transition that may not hurt a recruiting cycle. Here we are as fans watching what seems to be another disappointing season. Time will only tell if things get turned around. I’m hopeful but not optimistic. Even with X and Race back, it’s the exact team that we watched last year add JHS. Why is it these other programs can transition to a new coaching staff almost seamlessly? IU has had it pretty rough since RMK. Oh sure we have had players that gave IU a temporary facelift. Cody, Vic, Yogi, Hulls… those guys had a huge amount of talent and a relentless work ethic. They made Crean look better than he was. It has been shown that a good coach can do more with less. That hasn’t been the case at this University since RMK. It just hasn't. Even the down years you could count on IU being in the tournament. Don’t bet against them either since that was usually when they played their best ball. IU was always at the very least competitive. This team has enough talent to have tricked every sports beat writer coming into the season. So what gives? There is still quite a bit of basketball to be played. I’m not sure the results are going to be any better. I suppose a light switch could go off and we see a different squad. My recent memory says otherwise. Usually once IU starts the downward trajectory, it’s pretty much over. Folks show up here suggest over reaction by most of the board. Nah, it’s the product on the floor that’s causing the reaction. Rightfully so. It’s unbelievable to me that this is what the donor had in mind when coughing up the Miller buyout. To get curb stomped at Penn St. Let Northwestern own us on our home court. That’s just theft. I really want Woodson to work out just because he’s likable. But, if he isn’t going to put his foot up some tail and hold these guys accountable then I don’t expect anything to change in his favor. He’s been around the game his whole life. He has to know his stuff right? Looking at the team play there is something very wrong happening. Long rant, sorry.

Of course we struggle to get over the hump on hump day.

We are all friends here. This isn’t rivals. Most of us have been floating around this board since the Decker days. It’s ok to hash out differing opinions. Everyone here is civil folk for the most part. Shoot, while the dust settled on the Instagram debacle, I was making my family home made Philly steak and cheese while watching the Chilli Bowl on Flo Sports. 👍

Oh it absolutely reflects upon the the University, the program as well as the NIL sponsors to which they are the face of. They have to conduct themselves on a respectable level so as to not tarnish the brands they represent.

Some folks are talking about a letter shared by TJD I’m assuming. I agree that’s bs. Just the same, the player lashing out or stooping to that level is what I’m talking about. It’s not but if it were up to me they would ride the pine until the decided what was more important to them. Their scholly or making a fool on social media. It doesn’t reflect well on the program going forward.

While some folks do go overboard, these kids and this program are not above criticism. Folks thinking they are or should be lands you in this type culture.
