How is he wrong? He’s not wrong in the big picture. He also isn’t calling for a staff wipe. Someone said it in the game thread last night. Good teams will find a way to win this game. IU isn’t there yet. More or less I think that’s what he is saying. Refs and other adversity aside, IU and its staff have a good ways to go to win the games they should win. The ones that is right there for the taking. Trace can only take this team so far by himself. Like BGleas said, Maryland isn’t all that impressive. The argument can easily be made that IU didn’t play like the second best team in the league. They have played like the best team in the league but didn’t last night.

There is plenty of work to be done. To win this conference you find a way to win last nights game. Good teams overcome forms of adversity and find a way to win. IU can be very good when its two star players are dialed in. There just isn’t anyone consistent to step up and be a third. Hopefully that is addressed this off season. Especially if Trace and Jalen are gone. Last night Trace had no help. There were times when I felt like he wasn’t getting enough touches. When he would get doubled and kick it out Jalen whoever that person was didn’t shoot the ball. Our guards minus Galloway didn’t look confident. How many times did Jalen air ball? Trace also. Why the mental laps? Best IU can do right now is top 5 in the league. There is no chance at beating Purdue out of the top spot.

Yeah I really don’t disagree with your whole point though I didn’t think IU was stellar on either end. I’m saying offensively they played like the skid team. Deer in headlights type.

That team on the floor was capable of wining that game. It stayed within 5 points for most of the game. Yes the refs were paid off by the Maryland staff. I joke but the numbers show clear tunnel vision. Everyone here knew last night game was going to depend of which team showed up. The way Maryland shot the ball, the 5 game win streak shooting team would have run them out of their own house. Last night looked like the 3 game skid team. Not only were shots not falling but it reminded me of the Justin Smith Devonte Green saga where the shots missed badly. This team appears to have an odd mental issue that sends them into panic mode. Last night, Maryland pressed the entire game after IU was exposed at Iowa for not handling it well. It sure looked like it mentally broke down our guards and even Race seems to be in the same rush mode causing him turn the ball over.

As much as IU has more or less taken themselves out of this game, they are still within reach with plenty of time remaining

I’m afraid if it gets to 10-12 it’s gonna be a thing where we can get within 4-5 but no better. Like Hummel keeps saying, Trace needs touches if IU is going to win this.

The press is killing any mojo IU may have brought. It’s really taking its toll and allowing Maryland to control the game.

Personally, I see him no better than a bench player to bring in and score a couple from deep when needed. A second or third option. Instead of playing 120 minute and taking 5 shots. Play him 15 minutes for those 5 shots. As his “role”. My point is there isn’t anyone that can come in and cover for him defensively and also give IU a different look offensively.

I think they (TJD & JHS) will get it going in the second half. Plenty of time left and IU hasn’t really put a good run together yet. Still a winnable game. It’s unfortunate that the bench can’t provide anyone with enough defensive IQ to put Kopp on the bench. I feel like it’s consistently 4 v 5 on offense with him in the game as he seems to disappear. To me it shows a clear personel problem and reason to send some players to the portal.
