Inequality

Given what I’ve seen so far against the supreme powerhouse opponents we’ve played on our home floor. I’ve adjusted my expectations for this season down a couple of notches. It’s still early. Lots of work can be done. Adjustments can be made, etc. But, if these guys don’t get it together in a hurry, it’s going to be a rough season. Unless something magical happens between now and Sunday, UConn is going to expose our flaws in an easy dub.

I think we can all agree that if things don’t shape up quickly, we will get steam rolled by the likes of UConn and Kansas before the games even start. For me, I’m taken back by how far behind we are compared to where I think we should be or thought we would be. Where do I think we should be? I certainly think given the individual talents on the roster, we should be able to destroy teams like Army on our home floor by 20+ while letting our walk-ons play the last 3 minutes 😀

I actually like Cupps and Johnson sharing the 1-2 with Galloway as the best 6th man in the big. Reneau and Ware on the floor together will be a pretty big deal when the grueling B1G conference starts and we need their overall abilities, strength and height at these positions. I think it has potential to be a better version of Trace-Race combo. Not that I want to play half court slow offense. But some games will just be slow and that’s where IU should have a decent advantage. The 3 spot should by all accounts be Bako. His ability to create and shoot the rock hasn’t been on display little if at all thus far but he is from what I’ve seen very capable. Also a friend on the med staff, JD Headdy, said Bako is the best overall real deal player that he has personally seen come through the program. Call it armchair coaching if you want to. This is a fan board. It’s what we do best.

I agree that we should play downhill and use our athleticism to our advantage. Bako should be scoring option number 1.

I get that a lot of things are wrong with this team even given the small sample size we have witnessed. I just don’t see an Bako vs Reneau issue as being one of them. We need them both playing and playing well.

I agree. And, we have a real issue in future recruiting of 5 star talent if it’s clear we are a better team without them on the floor. I think both you and fouls are correct. MM is so unproductive on both ends which makes us better without him. But to your point, the staff has to do a better job getting him into the offense. That’s what I’ve been saying also.

Hummel makes a great point and his thoughts support what some of us have been asking for. Points in transition. We have the personnel and athleticism. As of right now our half court game is offensive. But that can change with some momentum building runs establishing some confidence.

This is IU. Where we give away football games and assist your basketball players in having the best shooting night of their careers.

I’ve felt like there isn’t enough offense being ran through him especially in the beginning of the game to get him “hot”. He does seem to have the Miller Kopp role of just standing in the corner. Reminds me of Romeo in the Archie Miller offense.

IU women would kick men’s butts. We have a lot of players but not a single shooter. Man I miss Jalen

Typical lackluster start. On a positive note, I love seeing Calbert on the sideline. If only he had remaining eligibility.

Ware easily stood out as the overall difference maker in this game.

Ware has to stay healthy. He is going to be so important to any success this season. Also love me some Cupps.
