  1. not sure i agree, but my son says this is on XJ. says his defense and passing and shooting is killing us.
  2. shooting 3-14 from 3, i'm still not convinced shooting more 3s will help.
  3. we have people saying this game gives them confidence against UConn and that this is a really deep team.
  4. our bench was averaging 9.5ppg against two bad teams coming into this game
  5. i want to love this team, but before we get too excited, we are beating Wright St by 3 at the Hall with their best player out.
  6. are they though? their effort seems horrible compared to Army.
  7. don't forget that this Wright St team looks awful. everyone was so down on our bench other than Cupps just a day ago. let's see how the bench looks against better teams.
  8. i just don't see this as a deep team at all. deep frontcourt maybe.
  9. we really do. every time i get frustrated, i just hope that we'll get better and better each game. that said, we do have a tendency to get all excited when we beat a bad team then all down when we lose to a good one. we'll see.
  10. we definitely are longer and more athletic as a whole than we have been. Banks, Mbako, Walker, Ware, Reneau, Sparks, even Galloway
  11. i don't watch much college bball other than the Hoosiers. do a lot of other teams do this these days?
  12. just don't forget Wright St without their star player is no UConn.
  13. I think it also has something to do with how bad Wright St looks, but it is nice to get an idea of what this team could be! Already worried about missing Ware next season!
  14. Still like the talent level of this team. Wright St looks awful.
  15. Definitely not optimistic about Gunn or Banks and definitely don't understand leaving the scholarship open. I understand Leal isn't gonna play at this point, but I do kind of wonder if we'd be better off with him playing a few minutes a game.
  16. I agree as far as a big body like Sparks banging with him, but on the offensive end if Ware is the 5 and Mbako the 4, Edey would have a tough time guarding Ware I would think.
  17. Would have liked to see how we did with him playing. If we still manage to lose this...
  18. All right - I rarely take the optimistic/positive stance, and to be honest, not feeling it right now, but if I'm reaching... Ware is a legit shot blocker. He's been pretty solid offensively vs weak teams and you gotta think he can get better and better with his length and diversity. Cupps has been better than expected this early in the season. Gotta love Sparks energy and effort. Reneau is a capable low post scorer that has shown some progress with his range as well. X is as experienced PG as there is in college bball. Seems to want to lead. Mbako is a long, talented player. Walker gives nice depth with length, defense, and rebounding. We know based on last year that Galloway can be a serviceable B1G starter. Gunn can be a bench scorer. Banks is a long athlete that has shown some shooting ability. You gotta think the pieces will start clicking better as the season goes on. There! I only pointed out positives!
  19. A lot of really frustrating things. On one hand, I would argue that we have the talent. We have 3 former 5 star recruits. We have a super experienced PG as a 4th and Galloway who is a returning starter. Sure, it stands to reason that we lost a lot of talent and we have so many new faces that chemistry issues are expected. However, isn't that true with most college teams these days? It hurts that 3 of our best players are probably best suited as a 4. Undoubtedly best suited as a 4 or 5. So what do you do? Not start one of them? Maybe. I have always been a fan of starting my 5 best players and giving them a lot of minutes together, then figuring out what style to play, etc, but that ain't workin! I'm sure MM was sold on the idea of he'll be a 3 in the NBA and we'd give him a chance to showcase that, so it's tough to yank that away. Would also be really tough to sell Reneau on coming off the bench I'm sure. For the record, I was devastated when Woodson was hired, but readily admit I like the direction he seems to have us going and the alumni support and hype around the program. All of that and his recruiting seem to be easy to get behind. I'm just not sold on the idea that he is a great college bball coach like some seem to easily give him. I refuse to accept that this season is already a wash! We have too much talent to have a horrible season. I'm gonna tell myself that we are still 2-0 and should win Thurs. One game at a time. (Okay, yes, I question if we'll win Thurs and feel like UConn will beat us by 30)
  20. I think it would be really really strange if this was the method of punishment. It would be detrimental to the team and seemingly ambiguous. Now, does Coach ave less patience with him because of the incident? Maybe. I think it is clear that he is just lost out there and we are getting way less out of him than we need. I said to everyone I talked with before the season that I thought MM had to be our leading scorer if we were going to be a solid top 15-20 team, and wow! That ain't happnin. Is it coaching? Is it on him? Don't know. Both I guess? Super frustrating at this point.
