  1. I can't see the article? But my take is they got what they could. Time will tell how the acquisitions pan out. I feel the Cubs, at present, have some very good corner stones in Nico and Wisdom. They also got a savvy backstop in Contreras. So the building blocks are there. That being said I am still amazed that the "old group" fell well short of expectations. They so much reminded me of the Big Red Machine.
  2. I didn't know that. I learned something new today! Thank you.
  3. Or maybe Eason is the Colts Earl Morrall?
  4. Sometimes injured QB's are a blessing in disguise. Not saying the Colts are in great shape with this, but the season has not unfolded yet.
  5. No, Penn St. does not count. They were not in the conference at the time. Now the "independents" did very well back before conference alignment took hold. Notre Dame, Penn St., Pitt(Dorsett, Cavanaugh was the QB), Florida St., and Miami.
  6. I just look at my lifetime(54 years) and we have what, 2 B1G teams that have won a title? And just a few titles at that. I compare that to the SEC and off the top of my head I come up with 'Bama, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, Florida, and Georgia. Those are original members there. Just in my lifetime.
  7. BTW @5fouls, get back to cranking up the Votto HoF talk..
  8. How many of those "great" Michigan/Ohio St. teams went out to Pasadena and got curb stomped?
  9. Who are we really kidding? The B1G/Big 10 has struggled in football on the national stage my entire lifetime. And that dates back to 1967. JMHO
  10. Yeah, I saw that. Gonna be a major blow if he misses extended time.
  11. They just got to keep winning at about 67% clip. The Brewers show no signs of letting up. If Milwaukee plays .500 ball the rest of the year they win 91 games. The Redlegs face an uphill battle for the division for sure. Now the WC is a different story. Sitting 4 GB right now and the Friars have a bunch of games remaining against the Giants/Dodgers.
  12. "Wait 'til next year."----random Cub fan(circa pick a year) LOL
  13. Hell, I would give them Suarez, Senzel, and Shogo for him.
  14. TBH, Bryant is the one I would do my damnest to keep.
  15. LOL....to be honest, I think the Mets picked up the wrong guy to get them over the top.
  16. I hope Amir beans him 1st chance he gets...
  17. Such is the life of a small market fan. Feel your pain.
  18. Hmmm. And here I thought Schroder was a valuable piece of the Lakers?
  19. Yeah. He was back with the Giants in '85. The thing is the Reds only won one more division title after '76. I could argue the Reds, with Blue, would have won the division in '78 and '80 and got into the play-offs in '81.
  20. Had to have been his 2nd tour with SF. And the Reds could have used him then too.
  21. Absolutely. Fictional sports history is a strange thing. But I can't help but think what could have been had Kuhn not vetoed that trade.
