Scott Effross called up by the Cubs in late August of 2021. As a relief pitcher he appeared in 14 games, 14.2 innings, 2-1 W/L, and 3.68 ERA.
He's having an excellent spring this year.

When Petco Park (San Diego) had just opened, I got a ticket right in back of the plate for the Cubs game (Sosa's last year with Cubs). Just before I got to my seat I gobbled down some fries, a coney dog, and a coke. When I got to my seat, I discovered that there was a great free spread for this section. Problem was I was too full to eat much of it!
So you can take the hick out of Indiana, but you can't take the hick out of him.

Maybe Ali can get the honorary Jess Settles extra year of eligibility. I mean she's not even close to 30, yet.

2013 is the last time I truly remember there being multiple top tier teams in the B1G.
B1G had a lot of good teams this year, but no elite teams.

As btownqb said this was a great team.
Berger just never got into the game offensively today, and she has all the weapons. She will be a good player to build around next year.
UConn was just too deep and too athletic for IU.
Holmes is a "bumble bee" player -- i.e., you look at her and can't believe that she can fly. She's not very athletic except she's like Cody in the little box around the basket on both ends as she knows the angles and uses them well.

I miss those days when you got 4 years out of a player like Calbert Cheaney.
What a geezer!

Well, the off season is off to a bang.

Probably IU v. UConn in semis.

Women up 10 at half.

Did read a transcript of CMW's thoughts in interview after SM loss. He said the players bought into what he was preaching. The two things he specifically mentioned for the off-season were defense on the wing and shooting.

I think CMW can keep this team at a high level defensively.
The big question mark is where do we get offense from when we will likely lose 1 or both of our top 2 scorers on a team that was already offensively challenged. Plus we have no one on the outside that is a proven consistent scorer at all levels.

Kopp, Stewart and Rob are not catching fire. Hasn't happened all year and i don't expect anything different tomorrow. We will have to beat them with TJD, XJ and maybe someone else scoring to win. Our "Shooters" can't shoot.
Well, Rob was on fire for the first Purdue game. But you are right we've been waiting a long time.

Is that overall sos?
No one can rightly argue that the entirety of their schedule is remotely better than IU or any team in the B1G.
That's non-conference. IU=39. SM=60. Overall

Good info. The overall strength of schedule ranking you listed is just for non-conference though. Overall, IU's SOS is at 39 (including last night's game) and SM is at 60.
Correct.

This will be the best defensive team we've played by far. They are #9 in DE in KenPom.
Common opponents:
Wisky beat them 61-55 at St. Mary's.
They beat Norte Dame 62-59 at ND.

Ladies got the 3 seed and play in Bloomington v. Charlotte. If we win, we likely would play red hot Kentucky. And if we win that one we would get 2 seed UConn.
The women lost to UK at home last season, but beat them at UK this year. Rubber match!

I don’t understand why they call it a “west” region if you’re going to have locations in New York and South Carolina
They're all WEST of London.

Yeah, now watch. They probably won't be able to hit the broadside of a barn....
If they hit the broad side of the barn, it would probably bank in.

IU got hosed!
3/25-27 vs Evansville H
in IU Baseball
Posted
Our schedule says we play Evansville Tuesday but only one game today. So I assume they just moved the Tuesday game too today.
B1G starts next weekend as NW comes to visit us.
Then Purdue there. Purdue is 18-1. Not sure they've played a very tough schedule. But they are 18-1 and we are not.
